“Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we're afraid!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we will fall!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.”

A BIT ABOUT THERAPY

Life is hard, no question about it. Particularly nowadays, when the world seems to be in such a state. Perhaps you are experiencing emotional difficulties such as anxiety or depression. Perhaps the problem is you feel nothing at all. Maybe you've experienced a massive life event such as a bereavement, separation or job loss and have been left struggling to cope. Or maybe you need help dealing with a painful life history. Talking to someone who actively listens to your difficulties can be an very healing experience, as well as life changing. I offer a warm, safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment in which we can explore past and current issues in order to help you enjoy a richer, more meaningful life.

HOW I WORK

I work collaboratively and view therapy as a relationship between two equals on a journey together. I welcome the opportunity to work with difference with respect and an open mind.

I hold a holistic view of the world and of people in general, and am aware of the need to consider mind, body, emotions and the spiritual dimension in therapeutic work. My approach is integrative -

a blend of contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy and energy psychotherapy practices such as EFT and AIT. This means that we will talk about whatever issues you would like to bring and may relate them to earlier life experiences, but I may also invite you to work with your breath or gently tap or place a hand on your body to help clear trauma, retrieve memories or release feelings, thoughts and sensations if you feel inclined to do so.

"I didn’t expect to have my issue resolved in such a short time (...) [Priscila] showed me how valuable active listening is and gave me lots of food for thought for further personal development, which I highly appreciate."

ABOUT ME

I first realised how intrigued I was by people at the age of sixteen. Back then, the world made no sense to me. This led me to study for a Psychology degree, which I did not complete, opting instead to study Modern Languages a few years later, as a mature student, in order to pursue a career as a translator/interpreter. Life works in strange ways and has a habit of taking us to exactly where we need to be, so I felt a calling to return to my original field of study later on in life. I trained at Regent's University and the Minster Centre, a leading UK psychotherapy training institution, and have worked as a counsellor for a bereavement service, three London universities, a well-known mental health organisation and a multi-ethnic counselling service, as well as in private practice. I remain curious about existence and in awe of the depth and richness of the work of psychotherapy.

“I ask you right here please to agree with me that a scar is never ugly. That is what the scar-makers want us to think. But you and I, we must make an agreement to defy them. We must see all scars as beauty. OK? This will be our secret. Because take it from me, a scar does not form on the dying. A scar means, I survived.”
